| Already his affinity to realism began
to take shape. In the eighties he worked as an artist in Berlin and Düsseldorf
intensifying his study of the tradition of European Realism. This was also a time
of intensive travel in Spain and Italy as well as visits to other continents namely
Asia. As a result he transformed his sketched impressions of daily life into oil
paintings, intensely expressing the inner dynamics of human life. A subject that
dominated his artistic contributions to the Warburger Kunstmarkt (The Warburger
Art Market) in 1988. Here his concept of realism, which is focused on the nameless
human and reflects on the difficulty in determining ‘modern life’ was clearly
visible. Subsequently Bernd moved permanently to Warburg where he is further refining
his unique style and accepts commissions of portraits and landscapes. He is actively
participating in many projects and exhibitions. - Art Gallery Aratora
